Victorian Kissing Ring

Make a ring or wreath out of mistletoe. Any lady caught underneath may be kissed by a gentleman.

Traditionally, when a boy kissed a girl he would give her a berry from the mistletoe ring and when all the berries were gone, there would be no more kisses.

The Druids of ancient Britain worshipped the oak tree and because mistletoe often grew on oak trees, it was revered and it's magical properties were thought to keep the sleeping oak alive through winter.

If a woodcutter were to cut down an oak tree adorned with mistletoe, it was believed that he would be dead within the year.

Here's a rhyme that you can put near your mistletoe to amuse your guests...

Pick A Berry Off The Mistletoe

For Every Kiss That's Given

When The Berries Have All Gone

There's An End To Kissing
