Create The Perfect Setting

Be sure to set the mood with Christmas music playing in the background. Pull out all of your Christmas decorations beforehand so you can take inventory of what you have and what you may need—new lights seem to always be in demand.

This is a great time to make your own decorations that you can hang with care, and it works especially well when everybody is together at once.

Offer up some favorite holiday snacks and beverages such as cookies and egg nog. Let the kids make something special or at least get involved in welcoming everybody to the “decorating party”.

The best part about Christmas traditions is that you can create your own and make them something truly customized. This is an excellent time to pull in elements from Christmases gone by in the way of decorations, and of course to focus on the items that have sentimental value.

Everybody loves to be a part of things, and that’s what makes the decorating tradition such a popular one. Everybody plays a role, and ultimately is involved in making the house look beautiful and festive.

You can keep adding onto this tradition year after year, but it all starts with one decoration party. Put up the wreath, the stockings, the lights, and of course the tree.

Speak up if there is anything breakable that the kids shouldn’t touch, or if there is any special way that you want things done. Otherwise let everybody go to town in decorating the house and helping to contribute to the festive and special setting for your traditional Christmas celebration.
