Baking & Cooking - A Family Tradition 2
Contd...

Hold a Cookie Exchange:

Though this works a bit differently than a cookie baking party, the end result is the same in that you end up with a whole lot of cookies. If you want to do the baking ahead of time, this is an excellent way to do so.

Invite friends and family over and tell them to bring a certain number of their favorite Christmas cookies. Then you all exchange so that you end up with at least a dozen of each type.

This can help you to create a nice little collection of cookies to serve up and enjoy-and yet presents a nice way to get everyone together in the process!

Create a Potluck Feast:

This is a nice tradition, and proves to be very economical as well. Ask everybody to bring a dish to pass, and this takes a lot of pressure and expense off of the host.

This also allows everybody to be a part of things by incorporating their favorite Christmas dish into the feast.

You can keep it simple and assign a certain type of food to each family member, or you can keep within a certain theme with every dish that somebody brings.

Pay Homage to Your Culture:

As we’ve discussed, there is a wide array of traditional menus to choose from. The foods enjoyed in different parts of the world or cultures can make for some interesting menus of your own.

Put together an entire menu based around another culture. Alternatively select some dishes from your own culture to feature in addition to some of your most traditional dishes.

There are no rules so you can really have fun with this.

YOU MAKE UP THE RULES AND TRADITIONS AS YOU GO!

There’s no one way to celebrate Christmas, which means traditions can be whatever you make of them. Be sure to include everyone in on the fun whenever possible, because even kids love to help.

Keep it interesting and if you share the responsibilities it can even take some of the stress and expense out of the equation in the process.

Tradition is really about bringing your family together-so why not do so over food preparation and cooking that has to be done in the first place?

You can have fun, save yourself all of the burden, and actually enjoy the cooking and baking process if you turn it into an enjoyable family tradition.

Gather up your loved ones, create an occasion or event out of it, and get to cooking and baking. It makes an excellent and delicious way to celebrate Christmas and get the whole family together!
